Menu Features

The Class Act Restaurant offers a varied lunch menu including soups, salads, pastas, sandwiches, entrees, desserts and beverages. The standard menu includes a variety of vegetarian options. In addition to the standard menu, daily specials are offered. Your server can tell you more about the daily specials.

Reservations

Reservations are recommended for all parties and are required for all groups of 4 or more. Call 319-398-5468 to reserve a table. Be sure to mention any special dietary needs you require so we can serve you better. From time to time, The Class Act is closed to the public due to special events taking place for classroom educational reasons, or because of semester breaks, so it is important to call ahead for reservations and confirm accessibility.

Another option is to email your reservations to CLASSACT@kirkwood.edu

Groups of 10 or more must have either a limited menu or a set menu. For the limited menu we ask that you choose three items from our current menu for your party to order from. This will help us ensure timeliness and quality service.

Special Events

Throughout the year the Class Act has special events, which require reservations. These include Brunch Buffets and Holiday Buffets in December. Please call (319) 398-5468 to make reservations.
Each semester the Hospitality Events and Catering class holds two theme dinners. We have a mailing list, which we use to send letters and reservation requests for these dinners. These dinners are very popular and often a lottery is held to determine who receives the seats. If you would like to be added to the mailing list call 319-398-5468. You may also be added to the mailing list by giving us your information on the form at this site.

Comments

Both students and faculty want to hear about your dining experience in The Class Act. The restaurant and nearby kitchen serve as a laboratory for the students in the Culinary Arts, Restaurant Management and Hotel Management programs. Feedback about your dining experience is used to provide problem solving, decision-making and learning opportunities for students. Please complete the Comment Cards that are provided at each table to give us comments, suggestions and constructive criticism.

Gratuities

Gratuities are appreciated but not required. Any tips received are deposited in the Hospitality Club account and are used to help defray the cost of field trips, study tours, student culinary competitions and other student educational experiences.
A 15% gratuity will be added to all parties of 8 or more.
