Kathryn earned her BA in Sociology from the University of Minnesota. She started working at the Kirkwood Library in 1983. She was head of circulation and work study supervisor, retiring in 2001. Kathryn returned on a part time basis at the circulation desk in August 2004.

Kathy attended St. Cloud Technical College in St. Cloud, Minnesota, where she earned a General Business diploma in 1971. She moved to Cedar Rapids in 1995 and graduated from Kirkwood with AA degrees in the Administrative Assistant program and in Information Systems Management. She joined the library staff in April 1998 and helps with the book ordering/receiving process, and other duties in support of the library, staff, and students.

Gary earned his B.A. in Psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. He earned his M.A. in Library and Information Science in 1986, from the University of Iowa. He has been employed as a librarian at Kirkwood since then.

Carol has been at Kirkwood since 1976. Current responsibilities include the coordination of purchasing, receiving and payment for monographs and serials for the Library and college departments. She serves as assistant to the Library Director in the areas of finance and personnel.

Annie has been a reference librarian since 1997, after earning her M.A. in Library and Information Science from the University of Iowa. Prior to coming to Kirkwood, she served as Director of the Monticello, Iowa, Public Library for 14 years. She earned a B.A. in English and French from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Jill earned a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Cincinnati, a M.A. in Library Science from the University of Iowa. She began at Kirkwood as a part-time librarian in January 1978, was circulation librarian from 1978-1984, instructional services librarian from 1984-1987, Library Director from 1987-1996, and college archivist from 1997-present.

Nancy Obermueller has been Reference Librarian and English and Continuing Education instructor at Kirkwood since 2003. She earned a Master of Library Science degree from Syracuse University, a Master of Fine Arts degree in English-Nonfiction Writing from the University of Iowa, and a diploma in massage therapy from Eastwind School of Holistic Healing. Previous work included office administration in political offices and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop , and Director of the Van Horne Public Library.

Barb joined the circulation staff in March of 2000. She is available to assist the students, staff, and community and maintains the reserve collection. Barb earned her BA in marketing with a minor in interior design from the University of Iowa.

Barb, a retired university teacher/librarian, (BSEd, MA, PhD), joined the Kirkwood Library staff in March, 2002. Barb also maintains the collection on the second floor and is in charge of the inventory.

Shelley began working at the Kirkwood Library March 1986. She is the Library System Administrator in charge of maintaining the online databases and performing computer trouble shooting. She supervises and assists with cataloging.

Steve received a B.A. from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He received his MLS from Emporia State University in Kansas. From 1979-1990, he was a librarian at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. In 1990, he began working at Kirkwood.

As a library assistant, DiAnne performs technical tasks related to cataloging and processing library mateials. She began working at Kirkwood in 1995.

Sarah earned both her undergraduate degree in History Education and her MLS from the University of Iowa. In her varied career she has worked in both public and school libraries. She began working at the Kirkwood Library in 2003.

Arron earned a B.S. (Criminal Justice) and J.D. from the University of Nebraska, and a Masters of Library Science from the University of Iowa. He is an avid bicyclist and lives in Iowa City with his wife and 2 cats.

Genny earned her B.A. in elementary education at the University of Iowa. For 17 years, she taught fourth grade and junior high math, science and English in Marion, Iowa. She earned her M.A. in Library and Information Science from the University of Iowa, in 1986, at which time, she became a librarian at Kirkwood. Her main responsibility is Head of Reference.
