Additional Information

How do I sign up?

You can register online any time, or call us at 319-398-1022 during our business hours, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Are these continuing education classes approved by Iowa?

All in-person Style seminars have continuing approval by the Cosmetology Board of Examiners for Continuing Education and the Barber Board of Examiners for Continuing Education.

Note: The Barber Board of Examiners does NOT accept online class completions.

What do I get upon completion of my class?

Upon full attendance or completion of your class, you will receive a certificate of completion that indicates the number of hours earned. You will then submit this certificate along with your other licensure documents.

How do I know how many hours I need?

We encourage you to visit the Iowa Board of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences’ website to view the CEU requirements. You are responsible for keeping track of your own CEUs/hours.

Generally, continuing education requirements for cosmetologists have been reduced from eight hours to six hours since the 2018 renewal cycle. (See section 645-64.2(157) of the Professional Licensure document.) Our classes have been amended to reflect these changes.

Where can I see the current rules/regulations for licensure?

You can find current guidelines, the Iowa Laws and Rules, and request a hard copy of the rules to be mailed to you at the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing website for Barbering & Cosmetology Licensure.

Are any of my expenses tax deductible?

All continuing education expenses (tuition fees, travel, meals, and lodging) to maintain or improve professional skills may be used for tax deduction (Treas. Reg. 1-162-5).
