Kirkwood Fire School

Training Fire Service Personnel

The CITA-Kirkwood Fire School is a partnership between the Central Iowa Training Association and Kirkwood Community College, since 1986. This fire school is one of the largest in the State of Iowa and is committed to providing the highest quality fire training through efficient use of resources in meeting the training, safety, and education needs of fire service personnel across Iowa and nearby states.

***Announcement, updated 7/22/20***

As we are all aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has upended lives in ways we never could have imagined. Our fire school attracts Firefighters and EMS providers from the Midwest, and their health and safety during this unprecedented time is our number one priority. We also have great concern about the health and safety of our Vendors, Instructors, Students, Staff, and Volunteers. Without them, our fire school would not be possible.

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel the 34th Annual CITA/Kirkwood Fire School for 2020. We have come to the unfortunate conclusion that there are simply too many unknowns at this time to safely put on this type of event.

We have proudly sponsored our annual fire school for 33 consecutive years and while we are disappointed, we can assure you that we are already starting to plan for our the 35th Annual Fire School, scheduled for September 18 and 19, 2021
