The Veterinary Technology program has one dog available for adoption.
Coda (formerly Poppy) was one of our fall 2024 dogs. Her family has been working with a professional trainer for 5 months ever since they brought her home, but they are still experiencing conflict with her around their young children. They have made the tough choice to re-home her because of this for both Coda and their children's best interest, but she is an otherwise great dog! She cannot go to a home with children younger than age 12. There will be a $50 re-homing fee, which will cover her microchip owner transfer fee. Coda is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccines. Here is what her family has to say about her below:
Coda is an approximately 18-month-old, 25 pound cattle dog mix who is equal parts energy and love. She is hesitant of new people at first, but is quick to warm-up to them and once she does, she is a loyal and affectionate friend. She is potty trained and crate trained, but only spends time in her crate while we're away at work (about 6 hours). She knows the sit, down, shake, stay, and come commands pretty well and is working on lots of other tricks. She is incredibly smart and loves to learn new things, especially if there are treats involved. She is up for anything from long walks to hikes to games of backyard fetch to running at the dog park! After a day of adventure, she will happily cuddle up with you on the couch to relax in the evenings. She sleeps on the couch at night, nestled in some blankets. She plays well with other dogs and has even spent time around cats without issue.
If you are interested in meeting Coda, please contact mara.henningsen@kirkwood.edu and erin.dahlstrom@kirkwood.edu.
The Veterinary Technology program also has two male rats available for adoption.
Tortellini (tan & white) and Ravioli (white) are around 4 months old. Currently, they are curious, but nervous. They will be handled by students throughout the rest of the semester to gain socialization skills.
The two male rats adoption fee together is $10. Rats should live in a home with at least one other rat and we’d prefer that they are adopted together.
