The Kirkwood Veterinary Technology program has two who will be ready to go to their forever homes March 14.
Wally is an adult male rabbit that came to Cedar Rapids Animal Control as a stray. He was extremely emaciated, matted, and had deep wounds on all four limbs; he needed some major medical TLC. Despite his condition, he has been the absolute sweetest rabbit who has clearly been handled since a young age. He is very tolerant of handling and did very well through all his treatments. He is now up to a healthy weight at 4.7 pounds and all wounds have healed.
Brownie is an adult female rabbit that also arrived at Cedar Rapids Animal Control as a stray and had been there a few months before moving in with the Vet Tech program. She is a bigger girl at 6.9 pounds. Brownie is very sweet and has done well for routine brushing and handling. She has quite the personality and thoroughly enjoys “redecorating” her enclosure once you have cleaned it, giving her new bedding and toys. She enjoys exploring her surroundings and is very curious.
Both rabbits are currently staying at the Veterinary Technology Center, where they will help students learn how to care for, handle, and safely restrain rabbits, among other important skills. This will also improve their social skills, making them great household pets.
Both rabbits will be spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. Their adoption fee is $30. If you are interested in adopting either of these wonderful rabbits please email mara.henningsen@kirkwood.edu and
