In just two years, you can graduate and be transfer-ready, or start earning faster by going directly into the workforce.
Two-year transfer degrees may be the equivalent of the first two years of study required by four-year colleges and universities, and the degrees include core course work you'll need to complete before concentrating on your major field of study.
Choose the path that’s right for you, then start your application. We're looking forward to meeting you!
You can transfer your Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.), or Associate of Applied Arts (A.A.A.) liberal arts degree to a four-year school. Kirkwood graduates even have guaranteed admission into Iowa, Iowa State, or UNI!
Whether your degree is an A.A., A.S., or A.A.A. depends on your major.
A technical Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree prepares you for an in-demand technical job after graduation.
The hands-on instruction takes place in our well-equipped campus labs and in the field during paid internships.
Program Areas group Kirkwood’s programs by similar careers and interests, making it easier for you to explore what you're into.
Not sure what you want to do yet? No problem — pick a Program Area that feels right, then narrow it down when you're ready. Once you've picked a program, you'll create a plan that works for you, saving time, money, and helping you finish faster!

“Kirkwood has all the facilities like a university, but maintains the feel of a community college. And it’s a respected institution. Employers know that if you have a degree from Kirkwood, you have a great education.”

Cedar Rapids, Iowa
