Active Minds is a national student-run organization designed to promote mental health awareness and decrease the stigma on college campuses. Students have the opportunity to develop creative communication strategies regarding mental health issues and implement thought-provoking activities. Active Minds allows students to cultivate leadership skills, increase knowledge of mental health issues, and is an excellent resume builder and networking opportunity.

So what is a creative writing group? Though we are still in the initial stages of planning this club, we envision a space where people who share an interest and/or passion for writing can come together in a common place for common purpose: to write, to celebrate writing, and to make connections with other writers. The Navigators at Kirkwood Community College is a group that exists to know Jesus Christ, make him known, and help others do the same. Alpha Eta Rho is Kirkwood’s Cedar Rapids chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year colleges. Alpha Eta Rho’s purpose is to an honor society but also promote civic engagement through projects prescribed by PTK international. It also fosters leadership skills for its active members.
You must have completed at least 12 transferable credit hours of coursework applied to an associate degree and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 to be a member. Once a member, must maintain a GPA of 3.3 or higher.
