Thank you for choosing the Visual Communications & Design program. A 60+ minute program conference is required prior to acceptance to the program. You'll learn more about the program, specific admissions requirements, and have the opportunity to have questions answered by program faculty. Visual Communications & Design is a visually and technology driven creative career that requires a baseline in creativity. Future students will need to share their current portfolio of work or a link to website, creative social accounts like Instagram. This can include photography, drawings, paintings both traditional or digital. Any form of graphic design, web, motion editing should also be submitted. This can be done by sending samples of your work or links to david.brandstetter@kirkwood.edu as well as arts@kirkwood.edu. At the time of your visit, you will fill out our Conference checklist as we discuss program details and review questions you may have. Visual Communications & Design Conferences are held in person, at Kirkwood’s main campus. We will meet in our graphics studio located at 306 Nielsen Hall, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. If you have not already done so, submit your application for admission and complete a placement test. Our New Student Orientation has further details on the placement process.
