The Cedar Valley Divide is Kirkwood's literary magazine, a creative outlet for Kirkwood students, staff, and members of the local community. Our aim is to provide a space for artistic expression—in our pages, you'll find original artwork and literature that will inspire you. 

Our magazine is published once a year by our talented student editorial staff.

Submit Your Work

Are you interested in getting your work published in the Cedar Valley Divide? We welcome submissions of:

• Short stories
• Poems
• Creative nonfiction
• Short plays
• Digital art
• Photography
• Any kind of art you can take a picture of (art in the past has included culinary, fashion and floral works created on our campus.)

Due Dates

Submissions are due on Dec. 15, 2024, and what gets published is decided upon by the student staff and faculty advisor. Submitters can expect to hear back by Spring Break. 

You may submit up to five works; please fill out a separate form for each. We judge submissions anonymously, so please keep your name off the creative writing or artwork that you are submitting; only write it on the form.
