Call for Artists

Kirkwood is seeking submissions from current students for a shared art project to be displayed on the second floor of Iowa Hall, next to the Multicultural Lounge. The collection of art works will contribute to the aesthetic of the building and educational goals for the space, with pieces reflecting Kirkwood’s historical and ongoing commitment to high-quality education for everyone.

 

Overview

Five to six murals will be selected for this project. The works can be created using photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, digital art, but must be saved in a digital format. Students will determine the winning murals through a survey sent by the Student Life office. Each winner will receive $300 for their work.

 

Specifications

Iowa Hall wall that will display artworkThe panels will be 36 inches by 48 inches. Students may create their piece at half size, 18 inches by 24 inches, with pieces increased 200% at printing. If creating exclusively in a vector format (Illustrator, Corel Draw, ProCreate, etc.) there is no resolution requirement. Final submission may be in RGB or CMYK color mode. If submitting a raster piece, it will have to be flattened (Photoshop, Procreate or other raster application) and have a resolution of 300 ppi. The final art piece will need to be saved in a high quality print setting for PDF.

 

Deadlines

The deadline for the spring semester is May 2, 2025.
