Steve has been with Kirkwood since 1998. He has been an academic advisor since May 2001. In the Advising & Transfer Center, Steve assists students in determining educational goals. He earned his A.A. degree from Kirkwood Community College, his B.A. in Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa and a Masters in Higher Education from Iowa State University. Steve also teaches Boxing and Self Defense through Kirkwood's Continuing Education Department.

Darin Pint, Academic Advisor

Darin graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in Fairbank, Iowa, in 1991 and went to Coe College from 1991-1995, where he received a B.A. in Business Administration and a minor in Physical Education. In the Advising & Transfer Center he works with new and returning Arts and Science students helping them reach their academic goals, whether it be graduating from Kirkwood, transferring on to a four-year institution, or just taking a few classes for personal enrichment.

Todd earned hs B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa in 1999.  He joined the Kirkwood advising staff in October of 2012 after spending eleven years in student services at North Iowa Area Community College. Todd assists students in working towards meeting their academic goals.

Alison Robinson, Academic Advisor

Alison started working at Kirkwood as a work-study student in 2006. She earned her A.A. degree with an emphasis in Communications Media/Public relations from Kirkwood in 2007, earned her B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa in 2009, and her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Dubuque in 2015. Alison is an academic advisor for students who want to transfer to a four-year school.

Greg Stokes, Academic Advisor

Although Greg has been a part of the Kirkwood family since 1998, he joined Kirkwood's Advising team in 2011. Greg obtained his B.A. in Liberal Arts from the University of Iowa in 1987 and his Master's in Organizational Leadership from St. Ambrose University in 2011. Greg is originally from Hamilton, Ohio, but played basketball for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes in the mid-80's. After college, Greg played professionally for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Sacramento Kings, as well as several years abroad in Italy, Spain, and Australia. Greg's primary focus now is to help new and returning Kirkwood students with all of their academic goals and aspirations. 

Shelley Milks, Orientation Coordinator/Academic Advisor

Shelley received her B.A. in Communication and Theatre Arts from the University of Northern Iowa. She started at Kirkwood as a department coordinator in the Business and Information Technology Department in 2005. Shelley joined the Dean of Students Office as Kirkwood’s orientation coordinator in 2013. In addition to orientation, she advises liberal arts students.

Laura Riley, Coordinator

Laura earned an A.A. degree from Illinois Valley Community College, a B.A. degree in Secondary Education from Upper Iowa University and a Masters in Higher Education from Iowa State University. Laura works with Liberal Arts students as they work toward a transfer to a four-year college or university.

Tiffany Starks, Student Assistance/Academic Advisor

Tiffany has been working at Kirkwood since 2005. She completed her A.A. from Kirkwood in 2005, and her B.A. in Social Work from Mount Mercy University in 2007. She serves as an academic advisor, working with students in the Liberal Arts program who want to transfer to a four-year school, and students completing their Liberal Arts degree online. She also works with the Student Assistance team, helping students connect with resources and support services so they can continue working toward their academic goals.

Brenda Schafer, Student Assistance/Academic Advisor

Brenda has been working at Kirkwood since 2010. She completed her A.A. from Southeastern Community College in 1998, her B.A. in Sociology from Western Illinois University in 2000, and her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mount Mercy University in 2016. She serves as an academic advisor, working with students in the Liberal Arts program who want to transfer to a four-year school. She also works with the Student Assistance team, helping students connect with resources and support services so they can continue working towards their academic goals.
