Orientation for International Students

Orientation is mandatory for all new international students, and you'll have the opportunity to get your questions answered, find information and resources, and make sure you're all set to begin attending your classes.

If you are a new international student, use the International Student Portal to reserve a seat for orientation, then choose your campus location and date.

During on-campus orientation, you will:

  • Meet other international students
  • Meet Kirkwood staff and faculty and ask any questions you have
  • Get an overview of Kirkwood Community College
  • Learn to use My Hub
  • Learn about taking placement tests
  • Get information about paying tuition
  • Learn how to buy your books and get your EagleCard
  • Find where to get help at Kirkwood
  • Cover immigration rules, regulations & health insurance requirements
  • Have the opportunity to win t-shirts, prizes, and much more!
Kirkwood Student Rebecca Mbali

“English is my second language which can obviously make some coursework more difficult to understand, but professors here really make an effort to communicate directly with me. One of my Marketing teachers in particular, Todd Saville, made sure that I understood what I needed to and gave me the space and time to translate and complete class projects.”
